A small fish shop in Argostoli has taken on an additional role through the launch, in its existing premises, of Opsarion, a progressive gastronomic proposal offering a seafood menu for takeaway orders only. The menu’s quality items, worlds away from typical fast-food standards, are made using the finest of products supplied by carefully selected local and domestic fishermen and various producers. The dishes are solidly based on Ionian Island cuisine but incorporate wider Mediterranean elements, too. Choices include cod pies; an extremely delicious cod in bianco; and bourbourelia, a salad made with assorted beans, beetroot, sage vinaigrette and Kefalonian manouromyzithra cheese.
